Art Show

I’ve never been in an art show until now! It’s taken me more than a few weeks to get onto this post but I think part of that was just how overwhelming the whole thing was.

The closest I have come to “showing art” is putting it on Facebook or on Etsy. Which is fun but it definitely doesn’t have the same vibe as a real art show.

About a year ago I was contacted by Raw Artists inviting me to be part of a Melbourne showcase. I had (somehow) never heard of this organisation before but when I looked into them and what they were about I got super excited.

Our Mission: To provide independent artists within the first 10 years of their creative career with the tools, resources and exposure needed to inspire and cultivate creativity. RAW ventures to provide the platform for these artists to be seen, heard, and loved.

RAW showcases indie talent in visual art, film, fashion design, music, performance art, hair and makeup artistry, and photography.

RAW is a fun and alternative way for artists to showcase both to their local community and the world-at-large.
We are not your average art show. We are loud, colorful, creative, and all about our artists. We are RAW.

RAW currently operates in over 60 cities across the United States, Australia, Canada and the UK!

I was obviously super excited to be involved and also super nervous that my humble crochet wouldn’t be cool enough for the art scene!

So I worked.my.ass.off to get some colourful crochet ‘art’ ready for the show. I think I did a pretty good job. I didn’t take enough photos of the show because, frankly, I got overwhelmed with all the people and all the lights and I had to make a speech on stage and I hadn’t had much to eat and it was CRAZY! But I took a few shots to remember the awesome experience that was my frst art show…
